The US Navy Turned Its Drone Helicopter Right into a Mine Detector
The U.S. Navy’s helicopter-like Hearth Scout drone can now function a complicated sensor giving it elevated capacity to detect and destroy mines and submarines from a Littoral Fight Ship, service officers stated.
The brand new sensor, designed for fight and surveillance missions in littoral waters, known as the Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Evaluation, or COBRA. The know-how has formally achieved its preliminary operational functionality, and its main operate is detecting mines and submarines whereas retaining the small and lightly-armed LCS and its crew at a protected distance.
