4 experimental 50-kilowatt laser prototypes, mounted on Stryker AFVs, have been deployed to the Center East as a part of the U.S. Army’s Directed Vitality Maneuver-Brief Vary Air Protection (DE M-SHORAD). These Excessive Vitality Lasers (HEL) are designed to accumulate, observe, and defeat swarms of aerial threats.
