SAFFiR is brief for Shipboard Autonomous Firefighting Robotic.The mission is a collaboration between Virginia Tech’s Terrestrial Robotics Engineering and Controls Lab (TREC), Excessive Environments, Robotics & Supplies Laboratory and the U.S. Navy. The purpose is to, finally, higher help sailors in preventing fires, controlling injury and finishing up inspections onboard ships.
