JESUP, Ga. — There was fog on the bottom at a rural Georgia airport when a small aircraft making an attempt to land crashed and killed its pilot, a chiropractor who had served within the U.S. army as a Navy SEAL, in response to federal investigators.
However the preliminary report by the Nationwide Transportation Security Board would not say what function the foggy situations could have performed within the April 6 crash that killed Howard Wasdin on the small airport in Wayne County, southwest of Savannah. The reason for the crash stays beneath investigation.
The report says that airport staff advised investigators there was fog on the runway after they arrived on the website about 5 minutes after the single-engine airplane crashed close by. The NTSB report says the fog had restricted visibility on the airport to about one-fourth of a mile (0.4 kilometers).
