A Navy veteran is sharing never-before-published pictures of the historic assault on the usLiberty by Israel in 1967, photos offered completely to Army.com that present the half-sunk Navy ship as different vessels arrive to supply help.
Greg Knowles, who snapped the pictures, was an electronics technician on the usLittle Rock on June 8, 1967, when he heard that the Liberty had been attacked. The Little Rock, a guided-missile cruiser, was ported in Gaeta, Italy, on the time and was launched to help within the incident that killed 34 People, injured 170, and almost sank the Liberty.

Earlier this month, Army.com printed a story in regards to the fifty fifth anniversary of Israel’s assault on the usLiberty, a Navy “spy” ship attacked within the Mediterranean throughout the Six-Day Warfare between Israel and a coalition of Arab nations. The survivors are nonetheless on the lookout for acknowledgment from the U.S. authorities that Israeli forces could have identified the ship was American previous to its partial sinking.
