Constructing work on the Afghan Nationwide Army Officer Academy in Kabul is completed, and the primary cadets are shifting in.
The Academy is funded by the UK, and represents a permanent dedication to the nation.
A staff of British troops assist the Afghan instructors practice the cadets. They’re deployed beneath the UK mission, Op Toral.
Modelled on the British Sandhurst, the Academy has been dubbed “Sandhurst within the Sand”.
