Being within the UK’s Medical Emergency Response Crew – or MERT – is without doubt one of the hardest jobs for a navy medic. In Afghanistan, they flew 1000’s of missions, amassing wounded troops from the battlefield and flying them to hospital behind a Chinook. Forces TV has been given unique entry to the course which trains the emergency medics of the longer term.
