Editor: Within the late Nineteen Fifties and early Nineteen Sixties, I spent three years serving in a small Air Drive unit performing as liaison to NATO at a French Army-Air Drive radar facility beneath the French Vosges mountains, dwelling of the notorious Maginot Line. We labored with navy items from France, West Germany, Canada, Turkey and sometimes others “preventing” the Chilly Battle. It was all very kumbaya, however all of us knew if it got here all the way down to it, it might be america navy that will carry the load. NATO was nothing greater than window dressing. I significantly doubt that something has modified. We all know it and the Russians comprehend it. Why can we proceed to finance NATO? It has outlived its potential usefulness way back. It’s previous time to let Europe stand on it’s personal two legs and begin taking note of the safety of our nation.
