FORT LAUDERDALE — A minimum of 71 cats have been rescued from deplorable situations after a social media put up prompted a welfare verify from the Broward County Sheriff’s Workplace and Broward animal care officers.
Diana Salcedo, an animal rights activist, stated she filed a criticism with Broward County Animal Care after seeing posts on Fb of a lady who allegedly had dozens of cats in her house.
She stated she was fearful that the cats weren’t getting the care they wanted.
“Once we confirmed up, the scene was horrendous,” Salcedo stated. “We heard cats screeching, screaming (and) the stench was insufferable.”
When sheriff’s deputies arrived on the house to analyze the criticism, Salcedo stated the officers gagged once they noticed the cats’ dwelling situations.
“We noticed feces on the bottom, officers got here out gagging, their eyes have been watering (and) they stated the air was insufferable,” Salcedo stated. “All people was gagging. The police officer that acquired shut, he actually virtually puked.”
The cats have been faraway from the house and brought to the Broward County animal shelter.
