Troopers from 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment have been showcasing their expertise forward of their deployment to Afghanistan. The unit is deploying to the nation as a part of Operation Toral – Britain’s contribution to NATO’s Resolute Assist mission. Operation Toral sees British forces practice, advise and mentor Afghan safety forces on the Afghan Nationwide Army Officer Academy which was modelled on Sandhurst.
