The Division of Protection introduced immediately the loss of life of a Marine who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
Employees Sgt. Samuel D. Lecce, 32, of Jefferson, Tenn., died Dec. 19, 2022, as the results of a non-combat associated incident in Iraq. This incident is below investigation.
Lecce was assigned to the third Marine Raider Battalion, Marine Forces Particular Operations Command, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
