The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an American multi-mission, tiltrotor navy plane with each vertical takeoff and touchdown , and quick takeoff and touchdown capabilities. It’s designed to mix the performance of a traditional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise efficiency of a turboprop plane.
The failure of Operation Eagle Claw throughout the Iran hostage disaster in 1980 underscored the requirement for a brand new long-range, high-speed, vertical-takeoff plane for the US Division of Protection. In response, the Joint-service Vertical take-off/touchdown Experimental plane program began in 1981.
