WASHINGTON — The U.S. Marine Corps has recognized the 4 Marines who died when their Osprey plane crashed Friday evening in a Norwegian city within the Arctic Circle throughout a NATO train.
The lads, all assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261, Marine Plane Group 26, second Marine Plane Wing stationed on Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, had been recognized as:
— Capt. Matthew J. Tomkiewicz, 27, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
— Capt. Ross A. Reynolds, 27, of Leominster, Massachusetts.
— Gunnery Sgt. James W. Speedy, 30, of Cambridge, Ohio.
— Cpl. Jacob M. Moore, 24, of Catlettsburg, Kentucky.
In a press release issued Sunday evening, a Marine Corps spokesman stated the our bodies had been faraway from the crash website and had been within the strategy of being returned to the U.S.
The reason for the crash remained underneath investigation, however Norwegian police reported dangerous climate within the space.
Officers in Norway stated the MV-22B Osprey crashed in Graetaedalen in Beiarn, south of Bodoe.
